Abstract

The article reveals the role of parenting styles in shaping and maintaining the psychological well-being of adolescents. It is noted that adolescence is a critical period of psychosocial development during which personal autonomy, emotional maturity, and social identity are actively formed. During this stage, parental upbringing serves as a key factor influencing the development of self-perception, self-esteem, emotional stability, and interpersonal relationships of adolescents. It is determined that the democratic parenting style promotes the development of internal responsibility, empathy, and stress resilience, whereas authoritarian or neglectful styles may provoke emotional tension, anxiety, and deviant behavioral manifestations. It is emphasized that emotional support, consistency of parental demands, and open communication between parents and children contribute to the formation of a positive family microclimate, which serves as a fundamental condition for the psychological well-being of adolescents. The relationship between family upbringing characteristics and the level of subjective happiness, life satisfaction, and social adaptation of adolescents is analyzed. The article outlines the psychological and pedagogical guidelines for optimizing family upbringing, including the development of parental competence, the enhancement of emotional culture, and the formation of effective communication and non-violent interaction skills within the family. It is concluded that ensuring the psychological well-being of adolescents is impossible without the harmonization of family relationships, the creation of an atmosphere of trust, acceptance, and mutual respect, which form the basis of mental health and personal resilience.
