The article provides a general psychological analysis of personality perfectionism, revealing its multidimensional duality based on correlational studies involving leading psychodiagnostic instruments and therapeutic models. The dualistic nature of perfectionism is examined based on correlational findings, clearly distinguishing its adaptive (self-oriented) and maladaptive (socially prescribed) forms. The main focus of the article is on establishing the correlational links between maladaptive perfectionism types and maladaptive Schema Modes from Schema Therapy. It is found that:Socially Prescribed Perfectionism (SPP) exhibits an exceptionally high positive correlation with the Punitive Critic mode, confirming its nature as an internalized external pressure and a core source of neuroticism, depression, and low self-acceptance. SPP is also significantly associated with the Avoidant Protector and Compliant Surrenderer modes, explaining the phenomena of procrastination and dependency. Other-Oriented Perfectionism (OOP) correlates strongly and positively with the Overcompensator Mode and the Punitive Critic, emphasizing that this type serves as an interpersonal strategy of control and aggression, aimed at concealing internal vulnerability.Based on these findings, the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy are substantiated. Key therapeutic interventions include: mode dialogue to weaken the Punitive Critic, exposure to imperfection to counter the Avoidant Protector, and the development of Self-Compassion as the primary antidote against internal self- condemnation. The article emphasizes that successful correction lies in the transformation of maladaptive modes and a shift in motivation from the avoidance of punishment to a healthy orientation towards mastery.
