ON THE QUESTION OF THE STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF THE VALUE- MEANING SPHERE OF PROTESTANT BELIEVERS

Abstract

In this article, the author examines the issue of the structure and content of the value-meaning sphere of Christians who belong to religious communities of the Protestant faith. The author is convinced that the value-meaning sphere is the central formation of a religious person’s psyche. This sphere is a multi-level, hierarchical and dynamic system.The article briefly analyzes scientific views on the options for the structure of the value-semantic sphere of Christians, and provides a general description of the key insight and values of Protestantism. In the article, the author highlighted universal values that were formed within the framework of the Protestant denomination and are actively transmitted by its adherents. The author proved that the difference between the content of the value-meaning sphere of a believer of the Protestant faith and an atheistic person is that the center of the value-meaning sphere of the believer; it is around it that the structural hierarchy of value guidelines is built, is the idea of immortality, which is key for Protestantism. These theoretical considerations shows that the structure of the value-meaning sphere of Protestant believers includes such components as individual personal meanings, motives, orientation, value orientations, meaningful life orientations.In this publication, the author also writes that personal values can play the role of a stabilizing factor in psychological health, providing support in difficult life circumstances; influence psychological well-being through the formation of a stable worldview, increasing the level of stress resistance.
