APPLICATION OF THE IDIOGRAPHIC APPROACH TO EXPRESS PSYCHOTHERAPY OF EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIORAL DISORDERS IN CHILDREN (CASE METHOD)

Abstract

The article provides a theoretical analysis and empirical confirmation of the relevance of the use of the idiographic approach in child pathopsychology, which is focused on the study and therapeutic support of the unique mental functioning of a particular child, taking into account his or her individual life experience, environmental context, and personal history. The case method is of particular value in conditions of intensive psychotherapeutic support, when it is important to achieve sustainable changes in the child’s functioning in a short period of time. Individualization of intervention based on case analysis allows to increase the effectiveness of express psychotherapy, reducing the risks of relapses and strengthening the child’s internal adaptive resources. It was found that the use of the idiographic approach in express psychotherapy of emotional and behavioral disorders in children contributes to the transition from a standard to a flexible, personalized approach in children’s psychotherapeutic practice. The developed express psychotherapeutic approach was mainly aimed at working on the motor-behavioral and emotional spheres of the child, while the cognitive component was of secondary importance. It is noted that psychotherapeutic work with children has its own specifics. In many cases, it is advisable to consider it as a special form of psychotherapeutic pedagogy, since it is implemented in the format of the educational process, but is performed by a specialist psychotherapist.
