The article is devoted to the consideration of the main theoretical approaches to the study of the psychological features of the individual’s life in the information space. It is argued that the development of communication tools in the twentieth century is not just a chain of technical inventions, but a deep civilizational process that changes the image of the individual, his ways of knowing the world, communicative behavior and even the structure of the internal mental space. The need for the transition to an information society is directly related to the change in the nature of the influence of scientific and technological progress on the individual’s life. In this context, the task of forming a socio-psychological model of behavior of a member of the information society acquires particular significance. We are talking about the need to study and develop effective mechanisms of influence that will contribute to the adequate adaptation of the individual to new information realities, provide psychological stability, support identity and reduce intergenerational gaps that arise against the background of digital transformations. These aspects are presented in the scientific works of wellknown foreign and domestic researchers. The considered theories provide a multidimensional methodological basis for the analysis of: information space as a psychogenic environment; personality as an active/passive subject of information consumption; media influence on the formation of meanings, identity and life activity. It is concluded that all these studies demonstrate that the psychological reality of the individual’s life in the information space is undergoing profound changes. Virtual technologies do not simply modify forms of social communication, but create new conditions for the existence of the “I”, in which the individual functions simultaneously as an author, viewer and product of information influence. Prospects for further research are seen in special attention to the personal dimension according to which the individual increasingly distances himself from traditional forms of social interaction, plunging into the inner world of affects, doubts, reflections and existential searches. Typical psychological consequences of such processes are increased psycho-emotional loneliness, fragmentation of the self-concept, alienation from social supports, decreased tolerance to frustration factors.
