PERSONAL EXPERIENCES OF ACHIEVING SUCCESS AND THEIR IMPACT ON AN INDIVIDUAL’S SUCCESS

Abstract

This article presents a theoretical and methodological analysis of data concerning an individual’s experience of success and its impact on their personality traits and future life. It has been established that the acquisition of individual experience of success and its nature is of critical importance for self-realisation, the acquisition of the ability to adapt to new circumstances, the formation of certain personality traits and personal growth. It is important that success for a person, and their experience of it, becomes an event; it is precisely this that leads to the transformation of their inner world and its restructuring. Cross-cultural models of success are taken into account in structuring a person’s successful behaviour, which is determined by different motives according to these models. The findings of this review suggest that the experience of success and the accumulation of such experiences can be regarded as a significant prerequisite for personal success. Thus, the experience of success serves as a prerequisite and a resource for an individual to achieve further success. Success has a positive influence on personality formation, personal growth, the development of various facets of one’s individuality, and certain personality traits (goal-orientation, reflection, stress resilience, awareness of one’s values and meanings, productivity, etc.), which is particularly evident during adolescence and school age. The experience of success allows an individual to accumulate appropriate strategies for achieving success, psychological traits, communication styles and forms of behaviour that contribute to success. Experience forms the basis for an individual’s future effectiveness, efficiency in various activities, self-confidence, the ability to make and implement decisions, etc., whilst the experience of failure can also become an important component of success when it is recognised and processed
