Abstract

The article presents a theoretical analysis of the potential role of dispositional authenticity in shaping an individual’s professional well-being within the framework of a motivational–value model. According to this model, professional well-being is an integrated evaluative state that is formed depending on the extent to which an individual’s needs are fulfilled in professional activity, taking into account personal values and meanings. Within this framework, the search for variables that influence a person’s ability to realize their own aspirations contributes to understanding the ways to maintain professional well-being. Authenticity is viewed as a multidimensional construct that reflects an individual’s tendency to rely on their own experience – considering thoughts, emotions, needs, desires, preferences, or beliefs – and to act in accordance with the true Self, expressing oneself in ways that align with internal experiences and feelings. The specific aim of the study justified the use of a set of general scientific theoretical methods. Based on the synthesis of various scientific approaches, it is argued that authenticity may serve as a fundamental personal resource for professional functioning, influencing a person’s ability to align their needs, values, and professional aspirations It is demonstrated that disruptions in authenticity increase the risks of emotional exhaustion, lower self-esteem, and discrepancies between internal orientations and the demands of the professional environment, whereas authentic selfexpression promotes stable engagement in activities and overall well-being. The proposed review creates a foundation for further empirical studies and for identifying practical strategies to support professional well-being in organizational contexts, particularly in the field of education
